Translating Japanese texts to multiple western and Asian languages requires a high degree of specialist knowledge and know-how for each individual language.
As a certified global translation partner of SAP (Germany) and Hewlett-Packard (USA), KI has built sturdy relationships with western and Asian translation companies, while simultaneously developing a quality control system (KI-GTML System [Global Team of Multi-Language]) aimed at providing a multi-language translation service. A strong network composed of companies in various countries with first-rate QCD processes in each supported language has been created, which allows a close working relationship to be maintained while each company functions independently at the individual level.

Also, when implementing and expanding the multi-language translation service, KI devised the following quality control process.
1. Quality of Multi-Language Translation ensured by Japanese to English translation
When a translation to a European language is required, the original text is first translated from Japanese to English. KI places utmost importance on the quality of this translation, and uses it’s wealth of know-how relating to English translations to apply the same thorough management process that is routinely used in all translation projects.
2. Quality Assurance of Partner Companies in each country
When developing the English to other European languages translation service, the companies KI chose as partners are comprised solely of those that passed the rigorous selection processes, and are certified partners of SAP, HP and Microsoft amongst others. Each partner also has strict quality control processes based on ISO and JIS standards. Although these form the fundamentals, the final check process conducted by KI (explained in the next point) aims to distil results and identify quality issues that can then be used to provide feedback which in turn can be used to unify quality standards.
3. Final Check Process carried out by KI
For each language, the results provided by each translation company are subject to a final inspection by KI’s quality check system. The check team for each language is externally based, and is composed of a master checker and a backup checker. The error data resulting from their checked translation is then used to evaluate the quality standards of each translation company, and this data is provided to each company for use in their quality improvement process.
4. Asian Language Quality Assurance Process
As there are no linguistic advantages to be gained by first translating to English, Asian language texts are translated directly from Japanese. Translations are carried out by trusted partner companies and the same final check process that is applied to European language translations is carried out by KI. However, care of the quality aspect of translations, particularly Chinese, is further emphasized, and as such KI's check process is rigorously applied to create a thorough and comprehensive quality system.
